Embassy of Japan Passport

Educational Booklet

Designed for the Japan Information & Culture Center, Embassy of Japan

2017 Re-Design Project || An educational and interactive 14-page, perfect-bound booklet with the cover designed to resemble a Japanese passport. This booklet was designed for the Japan Information & Culture Center’s educational programs, specifically for elementary school students. The booklet introduces children to various aspects of Japan and Japanese culture and language.

This book project was originally designed in 2015-2016, and I was assigned the role of re-designing the booklet entirely (minus the cover) in 2017. The original booklet relied primarily on stock images to introduce various aspects of Japanese culture and had no grid system supporting the design. I restructured the design by focusing on a more interactive approach to learning - I wanted this booklet to be both fun and engaging for children. As a result, I worked closely with the Education Coordinator to restructure the booklet to have various activities, demonstrated below. Full booklet portfolio spreads available upon request only.

The book was edited once again in 2019 - 2020 to accommodate revisions requested by diplomats.
